Terms of Use

Effective 5 November 2026

These terms cover your use of the KeyBuddy apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad, the kb command-line tool and the KeyBuddy browser extension (together, “KeyBuddy”). If you got KeyBuddy from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these terms and Apple’s EULA conflict, Apple’s EULA wins.

1. The licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use KeyBuddy on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. Don’t reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.

2. Your secrets are your responsibility

KeyBuddy stores your data on your devices and, if you choose, in your own iCloud account. We never have a copy, so we cannot recover lost data or a lost encryption key for you. Keep your Apple ID, device passcode and iCloud Keychain secure, and keep backups of anything you can’t afford to lose.

KeyBuddy helps you notice leaked keys, but it can’t guarantee it finds every one. When a key leaks, revoke it at the provider; deleting a file or a chat doesn’t un-leak a key.

3. Running commands with kb

kb run gives a secret to the program you start, as an environment variable. That program, and anything it runs, can use the secret. Only run commands you trust, and only approve requests you expect.

4. Disk cleanup

Cleanup moves the items you choose to the Trash. Check what you selected before emptying the Trash. Some items (such as old agent transcripts) can’t be restored by the tool that created them once they are gone.

5. Third-party services

KeyBuddy works alongside services such as iCloud, AI coding tools and API providers. We are not affiliated with them, and their own terms apply to your use of them. Provider names and logos belong to their owners.

6. No warranty

KeyBuddy is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of KeyBuddy. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
